Santiago Tejedor, director of the Gabinete de Comunicación y Educación, María José Recoder and Xavier Ortuño, members of the Office, have travelled to Cairo (Egypt) to meet with the Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport and continue working within the framework of the agreement between the two institutions.
The UAB team visited the Spanish Embassy in Cairo together with the director of the Arab Academy Ismail Abdel Ghafar, the Cairo University professor Samy Tayie and the researcher of the Gabinete de Comunicación y Educación Sally Tayie, among other representatives of the Egyptian university. All of them were received by the Spanish Ambassador Álvaro Iranzo Gutiérrez. They also visited the university campuses of the institution: Cairo, Alexandria and Smart Village.
In addition, the Gabinete’s researchers had the opportunity to visit the Library of Alexandria, a historic institution that currently contains more than 4 million volumes, as well as museum spaces, galleries and research centres.
The agreement between the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Arab Academy for Science Technology and Transportation of Egypt aims to foster intercultural dialogue and synergies between the two institutions.
